spiritual poetry shamanic story

I am thrilled to announce that I am in the final stages of preparing my book Buried Treasures—a labor of love including selected poetry and short stories that I wrote before, during, and after my time at the Iowa Writers Workshop nearly 20 years ago.

This book includes over 88 pages of stories and poetry, including stories The Slides, This Is Where We Come From, The Girl in a Yellow Dress Who Lives by Herself in Vieux-Montreal, The Woman in Blue Shoes Who Sleeps with Men in Motels by the Jersey Shore and Disfingerment and poems Secrets, Size 00, Legerdemain, Instrument, Museum of Noses, The Duty-Free Nose Shop and more!

While many of these pieces were published separately in magazines and literary journals, I never shared them publicly or considered self-publishing a book. I believed that all my poetry needed to fit neatly inside of a poetry collection and that all my short stories needed to fit squarely inside of a short story collection. I am throwing those restrictions out the window and publishing a mishmash of creative work for my friends and family to enjoy. I am accepting pre-orders for the ebook this month and will deliver it electronically by the end of May. You may order it by offering a donation of $11 here or by pre-ordering it on this page of my website.

My intention in publishing this book is to lean into the idea that it is never too late to share our gifts with each other and show up as our unique essence in the world. I also wanted to capture my youthful spirit as, even though it feels like lifetimes ago, it wasn’t properly presented to the world. In honoring it and sharing it with you, it is allowing for new gifts and messages to be channeled, and I hope that it inspires you to tune into yours as well.

For the last two years I have lived every day as if it could be my last and life has yielded many unexpected pathways and wonders. It has shown that there is no time like the present, and that every seed of creativity that blossoms is a gift—to ourselves, to others, and to the Spirit that enlivens all things.

We all have many buried treasures inside. What are yours?
